Trouble to fall on Davido’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke on October 31
He will face, along with four others, a four-count charge for personation and registering as students of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro Osun State to enable him sit for the June/July 2017 NECO.
Charged with Adeleke are: Sikiru Adeleke, Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau, principal of the school, Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo, school Registrar and Dare Samuel Olutope, a teacher. They will be arraigned before Justice I. E. Ekwo.
The police four weeks ago had declared Adeleke, the defeated governorship candidate of PDP in Osun, wanted over the offence and had asked him to report in the office of the Special Investigation Panel for prosecution.
Ademola Adeleke is a Nigerian politician and Senator representing Osun-west senatorial district of Osun State, Nigeria since 2017. He is from the Adeleke family of Ede in Osun State. Adeleke was the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the Osun 2018 gubernatorial elections which he lost after a re-run.
Adeleke was born to the family of Ayoola Adeleke – a Muslim father and Nnena Esther Adeleke – a Igbo Christian mother on May 13th, 1960 in Enugu. His father was Late Senator Raji Ayoola Adeleke the Balogun of Ede land in Osun State, a politician, second republic Senator and political leader of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) working alongside the premier of Western Nigeria, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Senator Adeleke commenced his primary education at Methodist Primary School, Surulere Lagos then relocated to Old Oyo State and attended Nawarudeen Primary School, Ikire. He progressed to The Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School, Ede also in the then Old Oyo State and later moved to Muslim Grammar School Ede. However, he did not finish his education at Muslim Grammar School as he later left Nigeria to study abroad with his two other brothers on a scholarship. He started higher studies at Jacksonville State University Alabama in United State of America where he was majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Political Science.
Ademola Adeleke is a business man and administrator, he was the Group Executive Director at his brother’s company, Pacific Holdings Limited from 2001-2016. Prior to joining Pacific Holdings Limited, Ademola had worked with Quicksilver Courier Company in Atlanta, Georgia, USA as a Service Contractor in 1985-1989. He progressed to Origin International LLC, Atlanta, Georgia, USA a flavours and fragrance manufacturing company as Vice President from 1990-1994.
Senator Ademola Adeleke is a community member and philanthropist. Adeleke started his political career in 2001 alongside his late brother Senator Isiaka Adeleke who died in April 2017. He contested at the Osun west 2017 by-election after the death of his brother, emerging as the winner under the People’s Democratic Party.
Ademola was a member under the All Progressives Congress until he decamped to the People’s Democratic Party in April 2017. On 23 July 2018, Ademola emerged as the governorship candidate of PDP in Osun State after defeating Akin Ogunbiyi by seven votes.
Adeleke was accused and charged to the Osogbo high court for forging his secondary school Testimonial and WAEC result in order to cancel his governorship candidacy. The Testimonial Adeleke submitted to INEC dated July 20th, 1988 as its Heading Ede Muslim Grammar School, Osun State, as at that year Osun state was not in existence. Also the SSCE results indicated in the testimonial shows that the mode of examination wasn’t existing in the year 1981.
Another Testimonial with the Heading Ede Muslim High school dated 2018, indicates that the Principal which signed the 1988 Testimonial also signed the 2018 Testimonial, this led to the arrest of the Principal by the Nigerian Police. Adeleke’s lawyer in his defense claims his secondary school hasn’t come out to denial his Testimonial asking the court to dismiss the Case. The court dismissed the suit stating that the plaintiff could not prove Adeleke’s forgery of the certificate.
Adeleke ran for Osun state governorship election under the PDP against top contenders Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola of APC and Iyiola Omisore of SDP on the 22nd of September, 2018. The election was declared inconclusive by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and a rerun slated on the 27th of September, 2018. The candidate of the APC Oyetola was declared winner after the run-off. Adeleke protested the result describing the election as a “coup”.
Ademola Adeleke is father to two Nigerian musicians by name B-Red, Sina Rambo and an Uncle to popular Nigerian singer Davido. Ademola Adeleke has been nicknamed “Dancing senator”.
